The Role:

As a Business Development Specialist you will be responsible for owning a growth target for select few existing accounts and hunting for new logos.

Customers: Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs of Pharma and Medical Device companies

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for acquiring new clients (hunting) and expanding the client base in North America and Western Europe
  • Manage the end-to-end sales cycle from stakeholder identification, prospecting, qualification of leads, proposal development, negotiations and closure for NEW logos
  • Build relationship with procurement stakeholders in client organization to ensure maximum participation in RFIs/RFPs
  • Lead RFP response development, RFP defense and conversion of opportunities
  • Strategic growth of revenue for the recently converted accounts until the accounts reach a business-as-usual state
  • Collaborate with scientific delivery team and Client Services team to develop a perspective on positioning of various services
  • Identify opportunities for strengthening company’s brand image and visibility in the areas of medical writing and associated services

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

Education: MBA (Marketing/Sales) preferred with an undergrad degree related to business or pharmaceutical industry

Experience:

  • 8+ years of directly relevant experience in sales of outsourced services especially to pharma and life sciences companies in North America and Western Europe (Experience in sales of Medical Writing related services highly preferred)
  • At least 3+ years of experience in hunting for NEW logos and growing revenues multifold
  • Experience in Sales by working with “C” level/Sr Executive level contacts in these accounts
  • Must have closed deals >$4 million per year in the last two years

Skills:

  • Good understanding of Medical Writing services for pharma and/or medical device organizations (Scientific Publications, Medical Communications, Medical Information, Medical Review, Training Solutions, Regulatory writing for devices etc)
  • Ability to lead RFP/RFIs collaborating with other internal stakeholders
  • Excellent client interfacing and communication skills (verbal and written)- should be able to drive meetings and deliver presentations effectively
  • Strong business management and analytical acumen
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Consultative selling skills and ability to engage with senior decision makers
  • Persuasion (needs to demonstrate this skill)
  • Established client relationships in relevant area in North America and/or Europe
  • International sales experience
  • Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment, work effectively under high pressure, growth mode
  • Ability to build relationships with clients across all levels
